Kid-Friendly Museums in Boston

As one of the oldest cities in the country, Boston is always at the top of travelers’ lists of places to visit. It’s a great place for families too. Boston has a host of kid friendly museums that the whole family will enjoy.

Here are our top picks:
  • Museum of Science: Ask any Bostonian kid some of their favorite places to go and the Museum of Science will always top their list. The variety of revolving exhibits, planetarium shows and our personal favorite, the Discovery Center, will keep your child happy for hours.
  • Children’s Museum: Designed for both children and families, this 100-year-old museum offers something for everyone. Some of our favorite areas include the climbing structures and bubble room.
  • Museum of Fine Arts: While the idea of visiting an art museum might terrify some parents, the Museum of Fine Arts is a great place for kids to explore and learn more about art. The museum offers playdates twice a month and hosts hands-on art programs for the little ones.
  • Boston Fire Museum: Calling all truck lovers! This museum is perfect for children enamored with those big red engines. They can even meet the museum’s official greeter, Sparky the Dog.
