Guide To Family Volunteering On Cape Cod

If you’ve been trying to figure out what volunteer opportunities there are for families, look no further. We have compiled a list of lower Cape Cod organizations that love including the entire family.

Food & clothing donations

The Family Pantry of Cape Cod has been providing food and clothing to those in need for 30 years. You can fill out a volunteer form or come up with fun ways to donate supplies to this organization. Host a Family Clean Out Day where everyone goes through their closets and pulls out what they don’t wear or doesn’t fit anymore. Ask your child’s teacher if the classroom can host a food drive.

Housing assistance & Homelessness prevention

Housing Assistance Cape Cod offers housing programs that help prevent homelessness on Cape Cod. You could organize a group day of service with your family or child’s class with the organization or take part in the Big Fix-A-Thon, where teams of volunteers assist veterans, seniors and disabled homeowners with clean-up, landscaping and small home repair projects.

Habitat for Humanity Cape Cod builds affordable homes. Construction volunteers must be 16 years old. For those with younger children, volunteer opportunities include food preparation for construction site workers, fundraising events and working one-on-one with homeowner families.

food & gift drives

The Lower Cape Outreach Council hosts numerous volunteer opportunities, including a Thanksgiving Food Drive and a Holiday Gift Drive. These are great opportunities for families to work with their children on ways they can get into the spirit of giving during the holiday season.
