Fini’s Guide to Home Pest Control

Ants. Mice. Bats. What do all three of these have in common? They are all pests that infiltrate our homes. While it’s impossible to completely eliminate pests from our homes, there are things we can do to minimize them.

Food Storage

Any food that’s not in your refrigerator or freezer should be stored in a sealed container that can’t be penetrated by mice or ants. This includes items such as cereal, rice, breakfast bars and flour. Food storage doesn’t have to be boring. Use this as an excuse to brighten up and organize your pantry.

Seal Entry Points

If mice are a big problem, get started sealing entry points on your home. Mice can squeeze through spaces that are as small as a quarter of an inch. Seal small holes with steel wool and then caulk around them. Check your attic for holes that birds or bats can fly into.

Prevention Maintenance

Hire a professional pest control company that makes quarterly visits to ensure your home is well protected. These visits can include setting baited traps, spraying the exterior home for mice and checking for entry points in your home that pests might find.
